![]() Kriyayoga founder Yogiraj Shri Shyamacharan Lahiri was born on 30th September, 1828 in a small village Ghurni in the Nadia district of West Bengal, India. At a very young age he moved to Varanasi with his father where he spent most of his life. He died on 28th September, 1895 in Varanasi. He was a complete family man and was employed in a government organization. After his retirement, he met his Guru Babaji Maharaj and spread the Kriyayoga in human society.
Although his followers included many, his life was secluded from society.
But he has documented his day to day life as a gift to the society. Without change of external appearance or show off sacrifice, spending a life very simply and yet getting the ultimate knowledge is what he left behind for us. That is the reason why he is referred to as "God of Family man". His life can be read in the book "Puran Purush Yogiraj Shri Shyamacharan Lahiri". Was he only a great Yogi? If he had not given his own identity no one would have known. In his documentation, he mentioned – "I am Krishna, I am Mahadev, I am Narayan. I am Mahapurush Purushottam, I am the only Man. The world is lighted with me. Nothing is beyond me. " He also said – "Whatever I say is Veda". While explaining the advantages of Kriyayoga, he said that by the practice you get disease free body with an enlightened knowledge.
