Literary Contribution

Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee has penned several books, articles, poems delineating the subtle philosophy of man hence the universe. Some of his books, articles, poems have been translated in over nine Indian languages like Hindi, Oriya, Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, Marathi. Assamese and Malayalam are awaiting publication.

  1. Dr. Chatterjee's first book in Bengali ‘PRANAMAYAM JAGAT’ was first published in June1979. This book has been published in Telugu and in Hindi also. It graphically expounds about the sole cause and origin of the universe. The book is simple language explains the concept of Prana, it’s all-pervasiveness and it’s inextricability. This book is a must for all beginners who aspire to glean knowledge about Kriya yoga.
  2. His second book ‘PURANA PURUSHA YOGIRAJ SRI SHAMA CHURN LAHIREE’ - first Bengali edition was published in July 1981. This book is a remarkable blend of literature and philosophy based on the life of Yogiraj Sri Shama Churn Lahiree Mahasaya, Fountain-Head of Kriya yoga.The book is a biography based on the ideals of Yogiraj and tenets of Kriya yoga. The authenticity of this biography lies in the preface where Satyacharan Lahiri Mahasaya grandson of Yogiraj Shama Churn Lahiree Mahasaya, commands his disciples the author, Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee who was then an elevated Kriyaban having meticulously and assiduously completed the higher stage of Kriyas to write the biography. He had furnished many details regarding his Grandfather Shama Churn Lahiree to the author who has judiciously incorporated these into the book. This book has had a mass appeal throughout India and abroad. This is proved by the fact that this book has been translated and published in Telugu, Oriya, Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati and French. The English version of this book has been published in January 31, 2000. Tamil, Malayalam and Assamese translations are awaiting publication. The French edition of this book was published in France in May 1997. The book ‘PURANA PURUSHA’ is a book of the millenium.
  3. Vacaspati Chatterjee’s third book ‘SHAMACHURN KRIYAYOGA & ADVAITABAD’ (Bengali) was first published in August 15, 1985. This book has been published in Hindi and Marathi. The English version is awaiting publication. This book details in dexterous prose the inevitability of the concept of non- duality. 100 important declarations out of the many made by Shama Churn have been dexterously culled and in lucid prose the intricacies of the essences latent in these quotations have been delivered. This book indirectly guides the reader to develop a longing for Kriya yoga.
  4. Dr. Chatterjee’s fourth book ‘YOGAPRABANDHE BHARATATMA’-- it’s first Bengali edition was published in 27.1.93. It is a compilation of 18 articles delineating the history, philosophy, yoga-essence of eternal Bharata and the avaricious play of the human mind. Man a victim of the gross sensory dispositions on reading this book will sit back and ponder; will endeavour to annihilate the grossness within him in gradual degrees; will realize the root of all sorrows and even if he succeeds a fraction of this, can aspire for a better morrow
  5. His fifth book 'KE EI SHAMACHURN' - first Bengali edition has been published in October 2, 1995. It’s Hindi translation is under progress and English translation is complete and awaiting publication. This book is a brilliant analysis of the Fountain-Head of Kriya yoga, Shamachurn with a blend of history, philosophy, science, culture and traditon of eternal Bharata. All these factors have been harmoniously fused and the essence derived thus is knowledge, gleaning which man can steer his life’s course in the right direction and thus benefit. That Bhagavan Krishna and Bhagavan Shama Churn are One and the same Esse, has been authenticated in this book by matching the horoscopes of Bhagavan Shama Churn. Bhagavan Krishna of Dvaparyuga marked His Advent as Shama Churn in Kaliyuga The three books ‘PURANA PURUSHA,’ ‘SHAMACHURN KRIYAYOGA AND ADVAITABAD’ and ‘KE EI SHAMACHURN’ form the trilogy on the essence of eternal Bharata.
  6. His sixth book ‘SATYALOKE SATYACHARAN (SATYACHARAN IN THE ABODE OF TRUTH)'-It’s first Bengali edition was published on 1.1.89. This book in lucid prose underlies the benefit yoga-philosophy can confer to humanity. The beauty of this book lies in the intimacy of the Guru-disciple relationship which has been highlighted in this book. This biography details the life of Satyacharan Lahiri, grandson of Yogiraj. Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee his foremost disciple and delineates in this book his Gurudeva’s love and faith he reposed in Dr. Ashoke Kumar Chatterjee. It’s English edition is awaiting publication.
  7. Vacaspati Chatterjee’s seventh work in Bengali ‘YOGIRAJ SHAMACHURN GRANTHABALI’ is a compilation of the annotation of the 26 sastras by Yogiraj Shyamacharan Lahiri in 5 volumes.

    Volume 3 First edition published onAugust 25,1985.
    Volume 4 First edition published on May 12, 1986.
    Volume 5 First edition published on January1,1990.
    These five volumes also justify the importance of yoga in our lives enriched with pithy saying of munis, rishis through aeons. Reading the annotations of the 26 sastras results in an ennobling experience, and makes the reader realize the importance of the pithy sayings of the Indian sages in our lives.
  8. Vacaspati Chatterjee’s book on poems named “PRANER KATHA” has been published on January 2002. This book contains 70 poems. Each of them strikes the inner recesses of the human heart. They are an appeal to mankind not to head for the abysmal depths of degeneration. His poems are poignant possessing a coherence and compactness in ideas. Reading them tugs at one’s heart strings. The readers can be at one with the poems. Dr. Chatterjee’s simplicity of thoughts, lucidity of expression have generated a wide acceptance amongst his readers.
